The AEC Employment Program is an employment program that addresses the unique employment needs of the homeless and those who are at risk of becoming homeless. Prevention and recovery from homelessness are our priorities, putting people to work in permanent jobs is what we do.
AEC continues to take direct action in breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty by addressing these three major community concerns:
Humanitarian
Assist an often neglected, high-risk population in getting their lives back on track through employment assistance, housing counseling and comprehensive case management.
Public Safety
Move persons from a homeless lifestyle on the streets; often including petty theft, drugs and other threats to the public, to become responsible, contributing citizens.
Economic Development
Provide a much needed source of sober, screened, and motivated workers who are paying taxes and spending their money in the community. More than $2,000,000 in wages and benefits went to AEC graduates in 2004.
